Solid waste disposed at landfill sites produces biogas with a methane content of about 50%.
Methane has to be pumped out from the landfill, to avoid accumulation and prevent danger of soil polution , fires and explosion. Moreover, the pumped methane is not allowed to be sent free to the atmosphere as it is highly pollutant and contributes to the greenhouse effect and has to be burned.
In the example shown, the flare extracts the gas from the landfill and burns it in a high temperature flare complying to the most up to date environmental protection standards and legislation.
The overall capacity of the flare unit is 600Nm3/h, with thermal power of 3000kW, burning the gas at a temperature of 1200C and sufficient retention time, to safely and completely eliminate environmental risk.
